Tested Windows Emulators for Our Current Datalogger Software SW 02K v3.2
MS Virtual PC on Mac OS X
Function verified?
no
Tested arrangement(s)
Emulator: MS Virtual PC for Mac 7.0.2 (German version)
Emulated OS: Windows XP-SP2 Professional (German version)
Mother System: Mac OS X 10.4.8 (German version) on an iBook G4
Additionally used: Prolific PL-2303 USB to Serial Adapter
Details
The datalogger software can be installed without problems. As there are no RS-232 interfaces on Macs it is necessary to use an USB-to-Serial adapter as well. Both the Mac and the emulated PC recognise and list the driver of the adapter, which has been installed on both systems (mother system, emulated Windows). As required, the adapter has been assigned with the correct COM port under Windows (COM1). Anyway and in spite of all efforts, the connection to the EBC cannot be established. Therefore the usage of Windows emulators on Mac OS X can not be recommended at this time, but further tests are planned.
