Finding an Appropriate USB-to-Serial Adapter for Our Current Datalogger Hardware DL 02K

Finding an USB-to-Serial adapter that works with a specific hardware is sometimes quite a difficult task. To help you in setting up a working connection between your miniClima Datalogger and your computer without an RS-232 interface we'd like to provide you with the following hints:

Turn directly to the developer of our hardware and software (Stefan Krause mikrodesign). They will be pleased to offer an adapter that has been tested with the miniClima Datalogger: www.mikrodesign.de

USB to Serial adapters we've tested

Prolific PL-2303 USB to Serial Adapter
(Manufacturer: Prolific Technology Inc. (Taiwan); adapter cable including installation CD for Win & Mac; cable length: 1.8 m)

These configurations using the "Prolific PL-2303 USB to Serial Adapter" can be regarded as approved by us and are guaranteed to be fully functional:

• Windows XP-SP2 running on a conventional, qualified PC
• The used USB 2.0 port of the computer was part of the original layout of the PC (no re-fitted cards etc.)
• The original driver on the CD that comes with the adapter has been installed on the PC following the driver's user guide
• Optionally: For mechanical reasons the additional use of the serial RS-232 cable that is part of our delivery in any case

• Additionally to the "Prolific PL-2303 USB to Serial Adapter" three pieces of our serial RS-232-cable (all in a row plugged one after the other) to confirm the function of a connection with total length of hence 7.2 m
